New song! New site! New Label!

Hey everyone.

I’m really excited to announce that Spirit Guides is complete.  Mastered last week by Jeff Elliott (fedge.ca)!  He did a wonderful job!  We are currently finishing up the artwork, should be shipped out to factory/press very shortly.

You can hear a new track off the record, called “Dead Deer” right here, http://www.myspace.com/eveninghymns .  It’s a big change from past Evening Hymns recordings I hope and features a full band.

It is being released on Out Of This Spark in November! I am so very thrilled to be joining this label, alongside rad bands The D’Urbervilles, Forest City Lovers and more…!  A huge thanks to all the musicians that have played on it, lent gear, time, space, thoughts, etc.  Also a big thanks to Stuart Duncan from Out Of This Spark, for putting the record out and for setting up this here web bloggy for me work with.

I will be updating the show listings real soon with details about our cd release and a November tour!

Until then, I hope you’re all reading this on a dock, soaking in some cosmic rays and being healed by mother nature…

New Website

Welcome to the brand new website for Evening Hymns.

Out of this Spark will release Evening Hymns’ debut full-length album Spirit Guides, in late Fall.

Evening Hymns is the project of Jonas Bonnetta, a musician/artist/sawyer who grew up in the countryside not too far from Orono, Ontario and currently calls Peterborough home. In 2007 he released the album Farewell to Harmony under his own name and the Let’s All Get Happy Together EP under the Evening Hymns moniker.

Spirit Guides has been recorded by James Bunton of Ohbijou, who has previously worked on albums by Forest City Lovers, Bellewoods and many of the selections from the Friends in Bellwoods compilations.
