Hey folks.
Been pretty quiet around Hymns camp as of late. We decided to take the summer off from playing shows so that we could focus on unwinding and spending as much time as possible in the beautiful woods and lakes of Ontario. So far so good! We’ve also spent a bunch of time in the studio putting the finishing touches on our new record Spectral Dusk. You can read a bit about the new record on BlogTo right here: http://www.blogto.com/music/2011/07/call_response_evening_hymns/
We’ve got a few things coming up though in the next few weeks that we’re thrilled to be working on. First up, next weekend, we are playing Wolfe Island Festival, in Kingston! We play Saturday afternoon and tickets are moving along so make sure if you plan on coming that you act soon and grab tickets. We’re playing earlier in the afternoon and then plan on sipping some jaspers and hanging out. It’s a rad lineup and we’re really happy to have been asked to take part.
The following weekend is the AllCaps Island Festival, taking place on Toronto Island (Evening Hymns only play island shows now. And we’re playing tropicalia music now too, not folk!). This will be much different than a typical Hymns show as we’ll be performing a live score along with a film that we just shot with Scott Cudmore. Here’s the kicker though… it’s being shot in 3D and it’s going to be crazy! I can’t say much more about it. Hopefully you’ll get to wear the glasses and see it yourself.
After that we’re taking another break until the record comes out. We haven’t set a date on it yet but we’re taking our time with this one to get it just right.
Hope you’ve all been enjoying this hot summer as much as we have. See you around the bend. Stay cool!
Best,
jb
